Fisheries Management

The Marine Scalefish Fishery (MSF) is a shared fishery resource of South Australia managed under the principles of Ecological Sustainable Development (ESD). In pursuit of the objectives of the SA fisheries Act (2007) (link) and enacted by the MSF management Plan 2013 (link)

A multi; species, gear and stakeholder fishery presents ongoing operational and strategic challenges and opportunities. Within the regulatory framework Primary Industry Regions, South Australia (PIRSA) (link) practices co-managed to encourage key stakeholders to be custodians of this community owned resource, maintaining South Australia’s reputation for progressive fisheries policy.
